I like your logic - it's crazy-man logic! I...Ha-ha! I like your logic - it's crazy-man logic! It works for everything.

Just this morning I got an email from old friends of ours (old in several senses of the word). Wonderful people, but politically we cannot be farther apart. The email, a mass-forwarded Obama smear, took a half-dozen passages from Obama's "Audacity of Hope" out of context, passages most designed to instill fear in any decent, God-fearing (white) American.

I'm barely even bothered by any part of it but the loss of context because as a former working historian guy / history teacher, I have only one rule for history: CONTEXT IS EVERYTHING. You can know all the so-called facts in the world but if you don't understand the context from which those facts were derived, you understand and you know nothing.

This is the Rovean base of right-wing politics in America today - a non-contextual propaganda of hate and fear. This is how Fucked News and Limpbag operate as well the RNC and White House. (Oh, I'll get burned for calling names, won't I. I try not to do that because that's a common right tactic too, but Fox and Limbaugh are just too easy!)

Anyway, it's too nice a day outside to be sitting inside doing this. Besides, I have more porch to scrape and repair.

Later!gomonkeygohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03388208407977661175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501177713131751048.post-24780653462790873012008-07-26T09:37:00.000-07:002008-07-26T09:37:00.000-07:00Weird reasons to vote for Granppapy MCCain:George ...Weird reasons to vote for Granppapy MCCain:
George Soros is Greek.
Aristotle, Socrates and Plato were Greek.
Aristotle, Socrates and Plato were also homosexuals.
Therefore, George Soros must be a homosexual.
George Soros supports Obama.
Therefore, Obama must be a homosexual.
We cannot elect a homosexual President.

PS-
Both Kerry and Gore were the rightful winners. I know a lot of people who did, even conservatives and Republicans, frustrated at the total lack of choice the system gave us.

In 2004 - Kerry. I'm paranoid enough to think he actually won the election, but that the rigged Ohio system stole it for Bush. I think it was a nostalgia trip for Bush. He couldn't bear the idea of winning an election honestly!

This year, Obama, in case it's not obvious. I disagree with some of his stances on some issues, but I have more agreement with him now than I probably did with Nader in 2000. There's no party excepting maybe the Greens that I have a great deal in common with. And they really aren't radical enough for me sometimes!gomonkeygohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03388208407977661175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6501177713131751048.post-88440804903260753232008-07-25T00:52:00.000-07:002008-07-25T00:52:00.000-07:00I think I will be voting for Nader.
