Through Fields of Fire

Richard Lloyd - Live at The Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL (6/22/01) Part 1
Richard Lloyd - Live at The Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL (6/22/01) Part 2

And to wash the taste from our mouths of John McCain's backside (that is his ass he's talking out of these days, right? I'd hate to think that those dead, painted-on eyes are real), a guitar hero.

As promised. Richard Lloyd. Live. Pretty recent too. It's never a nice thing to say to someone "You should have seen what I was gonna get you!" I know because I've done this and I'm a stupid ass for having done it and I thought I'd learned my lesson about this. But...this isn't the show I wanted to share.

I was gonna give ya'all a Lloyd gig from an unreleased Swedish radio broadcast, live from the famous Mudd Club in Gothenburg on March 15, 1985 - that's what I intended to share. But it won't rip. The last three tunes all give me serious extraction errors and kill EAC. And this show is so freakin' hot!!!

Why bother to tell you? Well, I'm hoping someone out there has it and would like to contribute. I'm looking for a 320-bit rate rip, preferably, that we can add to this post as a bonus. Anyone wanna help? Pony up!

Television coming Friday, kids. Which show will it be? I dunno. The Lords of the Good Rip will let me know shortly. Pray for me, pray for Television!

Don't forget - buy shit!

Awesome, awesome blog. I am like a kid in a candy store here - Verlaine, Lloyd, Du, and the list goes on and on...

I was especially delighted to find the Thin White Rope show, which is a great audience tape that seems unavailable elsewhere.

Any chance of adding Th' Faith Healers to this impeccable list?

Anyway, thanks a million and keep up the good work!

roge46 - You're very welcome!

peter from london, canada - Thanks for stopping by; glad you've found some music to enjoy. I have more Thin White Rope. Don't think I have any live 'Faith Healers, though. That'd be good, but I don't.

I saw Richard Lloyd play that solo a few years back. Quite possibly one of the best things I've ever seen live.

Glad you could use the show. I need to put up some more music, don't I?

Weeeeell, GoMonkeyGo, if that's an offer of more Television, who am I to decline?

In the meanwhile, and in the Dave Sez tradition, here's the latest I have been able to vacuum up - at last, the "I Need A New Adventure" outtakes bootleg from the Adventure sessions (only @128, but hey!), and a couple of Richard Hell live in 82 and 83. Haven't got the 83 yet, but the 82 is listenable. Get them (and thank the posters) here:

OK, I'll be watching your blog hoping for more goodies! You can find a flood of links to rarities from various groups that I have included in the comments to Walker's posts at burningaquarium.blogspot.com.

Cheers for now, Dave Sez.

Thanks, Dave! I might have that in WAV. If I start doing music again, it's going to be WAV, compressed to FLAC. Then folks can make their own mp3s if they want to.

Anonymous said...

Glad to help, GoMonkeyGo! I'm (patiently) looking forward to see what your trawl through your archives may produce - having a rather rambling collection myself, I know how long it can take ... a question though: do you have a recommendation for a preferably free programme to convert FLAC to mp3? The only Television lossless I have is the "This Case Is Closed" 29 July 1978 Bottom Line gig, which I think I gave you links to; if not, just say!

Cheers and thanks in advance - I'll be dropping in from time to time to see if today is my lucky day! Dave Sez.

Converting FLAC to MP3? I dunno. I'd just whip the FLAC to WAV and do it from thereonforward if that's a word, and it ain't.

If I stumble on anything, let ya know. When I get back to music, I'm going to create a set of links to tools. This'd be good if it such exists.

Hi GoMonkeyGo - this archive of lossless apps may help, from a trustworthy friend of mine marmadukebass.blogspot.com: http://rapidshare.com/users/MOV5NG.

Hi GoMonkeyGo, an update for you and your readers: your various Television posts and many more have now been consolidated here:

Thanks so much for your contributions! Cheers, Dave Sez.

Wow - that's really cool and gracious work! Thanks a million!

Ta muchly, GoMonkeyGo .. "cool and gracious", what a great expression! I roll it around in my mouth like the Islay malt I am currently sipping .. hm! Graft it may be (graft: N.English = hard work) but without anyone's contributions, an archivist wouldn't have much to do or to offer, so the thanks go to you for giving us all this. And, heh heh heh, you've just been nudged, 'cos now you know what I've found out there, you can guess what only you have in your shoeboxes of tapes under the cellar stairs {;-). But feel no pressure from me, just a nudge (reminder) ... was there anything you didn't have, hope so, I'd love to return the gift. Keep an eye on edo's too, as I've got into the mega-post swing and need only suggestions - put them in comments to my posts at edo's? Welcome any time! Cheers, Dave Sez.
